It was Easter and everyone was excited. Even Ted. It was the day of the great amazing Annual Socilia Easter Egg Hunt, and this year, it was happening in their town. Their TOWN! They were going to be able to compete to become the Easter king/queen, and get privelages like cutting ribbons at important openings and free baked goods for a year from various bakeries and restaurants! But more importantly, it was the Annual SOCIALIA EASTER EGG HUNT!!!

Everyone woke up early, anxious for 9:00 am, when the event would begin. It would run for six hours, at which point it would end and everyone would gather for an official counting of eggs. The person with the most eggs won.

Vicky, Jennifer, Sophie, Kate, Adam and Nick ((collectivly the V6), but not a V6 engine) arrived together to find a fairly large crowd, but not as many as they had thought for 7:22 am. Ted was also there, as was Peter.

Everyone had baskets, and everyone was ready for the fun. They chatted among eachother as the clock came closer and closer to 9. At 8:55, the mayor spoke a few words and then at 9:00:00 he announced the contest started. Everyone raced off. The whole town could have been gifted with the eggs.

All of the eggs were easy to diffrentiate - if you could find them. They were all either golden (worth 5), silver (worth 3) or coloured (worth 1), and were decorated with a simple S on all sides, for a total of four 'S's.

There were usually five times more bronze than gold, and two times more bronze than silver. All together, there were, according to the semi-accurate sign 900 Easter Eggs. It would be awesome!

The V6 went in the same general direction, but split up, all eager to win. Peter went another way, intent on checking around the local school - the one place no one would want to look, according to him. As for Ted, well, he stayed around the general area snooping and looking for some eggs in the general area. He was determined that he would win. But how?

Vicky went north to the local wetland area. She did indeed find some eggs, a collection of bronze, a few silver and even one rare golden egg! The gold she had to fight a goose for though. She was convinced that it was HER egg. Brushing off a few drops of sweat from her fight, she moved on to the next pond area.

Egg Total: 1 gold. 2 silver. 4 bronze.

Kate had also gone north, but instead of the wetlands, she had gone to the Wildlife Rehabiliation Clinic. They had the birds and the bees, some cats, dogs, owls, even some cute fuzzy bunnies and a koala bear. She found a few eggs, but not as many as she had thought. That was ok though - she was sure she would find more in her next location.

Egg Total: 0 gold. 1 silver. 3 bronze.

Adam had gone north-west. He had gone to the playground and dog park. He was convinced that there would be eggs there. The Easter Bunny had to have come! It was the perfect place to bring joy to kids - in this case, him. He searched the slides, monkeybars, ladders, sand and other toys, but to no avail. There were no eggs to be found. At least not yet. The dog park had no better results.

Egg Total: 0 gold. 0 silver. 0 bronze.

Jennifer traveled solo to the north-east. There, she looked and searched the entire woods (fun fact: they weren't very big). It was hard work, but it was a cornocopia of eggs. She found so many eggs she had to stuff some in her pockets. Her basket was full, and resolving to come back, she set off to the counting station to register the first of her eggs.

Egg Total: 3 gold. 5 silver. 9 bronze.

Nick travelled with Adam. But instead of the playground, he went to the nearby shopping district, which had decorated all out for Easter. It turned out to be a smart choice. Unlike Adam's abysmal performance at the playground, Nick did quite well. He collected a few bronze, a dozen silver and even a rare golden egg, which he kissed before putting it in his basket. Then he headed off to the playground. There had to be some there, right?

Egg Total: 1 gold. 12 silver. 2 bronze.

Sophie went to her neighborhod, the furthest away, but a place she knew there would be eggs. Living in the exclusive community of Snowford had it's disadvantages (like having to wear Snowford ID at all, and she meant ALL times) but it did mean that no one else could get in, and they usually did have a good amount of all the other goodies, like Gingerbread on the Annual Run For Gingerbread Event. She got there and began checking around. Disapointedly, she only found a few.

Egg Total: 0 gold. 1 silver. 2 bronze.

Peter moved towards the elementry school number 2. It had been swarmed by no one, like he had figured, but was happy to see himself vindicated when he saw a golden egg, shining in the sun on the top of the school enterance. But it was pretty high up. Now how to get it? He started by jumping, but that failed, and only got a laugh from a young girl as she picked a bronze egg from his basket and ran away. He grimiced but let her go. A golden egg was worth so much more! When that didn't work, he moved onto jumping from the bike rack. Another epic fail. So he sighed and began attempting to knock it off with a broom found by the side of the door. Which didn't work.

Egg Total: 0 gold. 0 silver. 1 bronze.

Vicky and Kate met eachother as they walked towards the Rolling River, between the nursery and the wetlands. They eyed eachothers baskets, but made no move to stop the other. That was until they got to the culvert at least. There, there was the Holy Grail. A platinum egg.

Only one of those were put in the game each year, and it was worth 25 points. Then it was all woman for themselves as they pushed, pulled and scrambled up the hill towards the ultimate egg.

Vicky's Egg Total: 1 gold. 2 silver. 6 bronze. (+2 bronze)

Kate's Egg Total: 0 gold. 3 silver. 3 bronze. (+2 silver, 1 bronze)

Adam and Nick also met up, both disgusted by the playground and anxious to collect more eggs. Teaming up, they set out to search the river valley for eggs. Last time the event was in town, the platinum egg was there? Could it be there this year? Who knew, but as no one else had been seen going in that direction, it might just be.

Adam's Egg Total: 0 gold. 2 silver. 3 bronze. (+2 silver, 3 bronze)

Nick's Egg Total: 2 gold. 12 silver. 2 bronze. (+1 gold)

Sophie and Jennifer were the last of the groups to meet up. They had done well so far, though Jenn better than Sophie by far, and they set off to check Wolf Point. It was quite far away, so unless they hurried, their day would be done, but it was worth it. Wolf Point was, according to Jennifer's grandfather, where the platinum egg had been hidden in his day, plus the fact that every year, at least 40 eggs were recovered from the area. Plenty to share.

Jenn's Egg Total: 4 gold. 5 silver. 13 bronze. (+1 gold, 4 bronze)

Sophie's Egg Total: 1 gold. 3 silver. 6 bronze. (+1 gold, 2 silver, 4 bronze)

Ted, with his basket containing a few eggs, but peasly when compared to the number of eggs he planned on having, snuck into the mayor's tent. It contained the master list of all egg placements, so that they could be picked up after the event if any were still missing for shipping to the next location of the event. Each egg had a number, and they were checked off to the map to make finding them easier.

But the locations they had were what Ted wanted. With that, he could collect all the eggs. Taking the map, he scanned it. The Platinum Egg. There it was. With a run, he began heading towards the platinum.

Egg Total: 1 gold. 3 silver. 0 bronze.

The game will continue. Look for "Bunnies" next week.

Jennifer's Public Message: Each Easter, hundreds of bunnies and chicks are bought, but gotten rid of after Easter. This year, try some other approaches. Either 'adopt' a chick or bunny for a poor family in Africa/South America, adopt one and plan to keep it or don't get an actual animal. They are not toys. They are living creatures, and they are a big responsibility. Thank you. - Jennifer & the entire VickyTales team.
